Grant for Lake County Housing Authority

The Lake County Housing Authority is among more than 200 public housing agencies across the nation and 10 in Illinois that have been awarded a share of $15 million from a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development effort to help public housing residents find jobs. Lake County’s share is $69,000. The Lake County Housing Authority manages 620 public housing units.“Job training programs have been found to have positive results for those who participate in them and we are happy to help our residents to economic independence,” said Executive Director David Northern. The money allows the housing authorities to hire program coordinators who work directly with residents to connect them with local education and training opportunities, job placement organizations and local employers.
