Pitching matchups: The Cubs’ Ryan Dempster (5-5) vs. Randy Wolf (4-4) today at 7:05 p.m.; Randy Wells (1-1) vs. Yovani Gallardo (8-3) Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.; Carlos Zambrano (5-3) vs. Chris Narveson (3-4) Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.; Matt Garza (2-6) vs. Zack Greinke (5-1) Thursday at 1:20 p.m.

At a glance: The Brewers (38-28) took over first place in the NL Central on Sunday by beating the Cardinals at Miller Park. The Cubs went 2-8 on the road trip and are on pace to lose 99 games. The Brewers have been hot of late, and their sweep of the Cardinals put them at 10 games over .500 for the first time since June 2009. Milwaukee entered Sunday tied for first in homers, and Prince Fielder hit his 19th Sunday to put him into a tie for the league lead. The Brewers were sixth in the NL in ERA (3.59) while the Cubs were dead last (4.82). The Brewers took two of three from the Cubs at Miller Park in April.
