Don’t run country like a business
I just read today’s “Stop entitling immigrants” letter and I’m appalled.
“The country is a business and should be run like one”? What country are we talking about? Certainly not America as described by the Constitution.
America is not a business, and how is this part of the solution to the immigration problem being discussed? We elect representatives to apply freedom, liberty, justice, welfare and defense, not profiteering.
While I can agree with budget balancing and fiscal responsibility, and I partly agree with immigration reforms I will not want to see the country run by the same corporatists that brought us financial meltdown, spiraling insurance costs, pollution, harmful and defective products and unhealthy food.
Remember that corporations, not the government, are responsible for layoffs, unemployment, low-wages, etc. How can you possibly want these people to run our country?
Run it like a business? Be careful what you wish for.
