Driver in St. Charles crash charged with DUI

A St. Charles man who crashed into a home Tuesday has been charged with DUI after the early morning accident, according to police officials.

Joseph M. Hynes, 56, of the 1500 block of Triple Crown Court, was driving a 2004 Toyota Camry when he failed to turn at the intersection of Fox Chase Boulevard and Huntington Road in St. Charles, Police Department spokesman Paul McCurtain said.

McCurtain said Hynes crashed into a vehicle parked in the driveway of a home in the 1600 block of Fox Chase Boulevard, pushing that vehicle into the garage, which housed a third vehicle.

McCurtain said no one in the home was injured but both vehicles and the garage sustained some damage.

Hynes was taken to Delnor Hospital with minor injuries to his face and released Tuesday.

He was later charged with DUI for being under the influence of prescription drugs as well as driving on the shoulder, according to McCurtain.

Hynes is due in court July 14 for both charges.
