Wheeling to host 2011 Brickworld convention

Brickworld is back at the Westin North Shore Hotel in Wheeling, and this weekend the event is open for public viewing.

Brickworld is a convention created by Adult Fans of Lego, although plenty of TFOLS (Teen Fans of Lego) are here, too.

The first several days of the convention are for the initiated, a gathering of like- minded hobby enthusiasts who want to share what they have created, what they know and games they play.

But on Saturday and Sunday, June 18 and 19, they open the doors to the public to see their amazing works of art.

About 30,000 square feet of ballroom space is filled with train layouts, tall buildings, sculptures, towns, mosaics, futuristic battle scenes, replicas, castles, things that move, things that are stationary, space displays, animals, architecture and history.

If you or your kids are fascinated by Lego, or if you are just looking for a way to broaden your imagination, then Brickworld is for you.
