Volo neglects mowing bike path

I live in Volo along a bike path. The bike path is about 20 feet from our back yards. The Lake County Forest Preserves own the bike path. They mow a 3-foot path on each side of the bike path. The remainder of the approximately 18 feet is to be maintained by the Village of Volo.

In our 3 years of residence here, the village has mowed this area twice. As you would know, this has become an eyesore along with the many bugs, mice and other creatures who call this area home.

I have made many calls to the village only to be met with less than helpful attitudes. I met with a gentleman today who stated he also feels it is an eyesore but said he won’t have it mowed more than three times a year. It hasn’t been mowed yet this year.

It was mowed once last year and that was only at my own and neighbors’ complaints. We in Volo are extremely upset with the village’s lack of interest in the villagers’ concern. John Brennan
