All have to pitch in on social security
The vast majority of people in the United States want medicare and social security to remain as is and available to people 65 and older. In order to do this the social security and medicare taxes must be raised.
This means that taxes must be raised not only on the rich and corporations, but also on the general population. If we want the services of government, from federal to local, to help us in our daily lives and retirement years the rich, middle and lower classes must all chip in.
The fundamental problem of federal funding deficits is because the so called “Bush tax cuts” were enacted. The federal deficit is approximately the amount of those tax cuts.
We cannot simply cut our way out of balancing the federal budget. We must all bite the bullet and all pay more into the federal treasury. I am retired, get a small amount in social security and have used medicare.
