ECC pays tribute to 100 years of wind bands

Elgin Community College’s Concert Band pays tribute to the first 100 years of wind bands during its fall performance at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, in the ECC Arts Center’s Blizzard Theatre, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

“Band Classics: Old and New” will feature selections from composers Gustav Holst, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Charles Carter, John Barnes Chance and Karl King. The band also will perform newer pieces from composers Eric Whitacre and Jonathan Newman.

Tickets are $9, $7 for students and seniors. Tickets for all performances in the ECC Arts Center are available online at tickets.elgin.edu or at the ECC box office in the arts center. Box office hours are noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and noon to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. To purchase tickets by phone, call (847) 622-0300.
