Throw the high- spending bums out

In 2008, 19.5 percent of all wages earned in the United States were by government employees, including federal, state, and local governments. In other words, for every $5 paid to employees, $4 were to employees in private industry and $1 to government workers.

Since the economy downturn, many private industry jobs were lost and many government jobs were added. So the percentage of government salaries has to be well above 20 percent of total wages paid in the United States.

We're aware that county and city governments as well as schools are eliminating jobs and freezing wages. Local officials aren't willing or able to go into debt and have to spend less as revenues decrease. The federal government doesn't have that same mindset and has the ability and willingness to go into debt as witnessed by the recent vote to raise the national debt ceiling even more.

Is anyone in Washington, D.C., concerned that our government is bloated and growing out of control? This isn't the same government that our founding fathers envisioned. Personally, I'm fed up. We need to throw out all of these smug, officious senators and representatives, regardless of party, and replace them with concerned citizens who have the same interests as the people.
