Health Center Provides Free and Healthy Summer Events
The North Shore Health Center of the Lake County Health Department/Community Health Center has a full agenda of activities planned for the summer months.
The center, located in Highland Park, is partnering with local community organizations to offer a wide variety of fun and free programs to improve the health and well-being of Lake County residents.
Following is the June events schedule:
Monday, June 6
Defeating Diabetes Wellness Fair
3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Recreation Center of Highland Park

The North Shore Health Center is collaborating with CJE SeniorLife to present this wellness fair, which will provide participants with information on how to defeat diabetes with a variety of tools and resources. The fair will include: free diabetes screening tests; diabetes education programs offered every hour; vendor booths and raffle drawing. For more information, call (847) 984-5323.
Wednesday, June 8
Bilingual Hike in Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve
5:30-6:30 p.m.
The entrance to Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve is located on Sheridan Road at Old Elm Road and Simonds Way near Highland Park.
This hike is part of a series of free bilingual nature hikes held in conjunction with Nuestro Center of Highwood and Friends of Ryerson Woods. The goal is to introduce Spanish speaking residents to the forest preserves system. A Lake County Forest Preserve naturalist will lead the hike. Interpretation will be provided. Diabetes Support Group

North Shore Health Center

The North Shore Health Center's Diabetes Support Group provides an opportunity for participants to share experiences, knowledge and information. The group, which is lead by a registered dietitian, will meet on June 30, Sept. 29 and Dec. 29. To join, call (847) 984-5342.
All of these free events are open to the public and the community is encouraged to attend.
The North Shore Health Center, located at 1840 Green Bay Road in Highland Park, is one of six community health centers maintained by the Lake County Health Department/Community Health Center. Established in 2006, the center provides a wide range of medical and dental services for individuals and families who may be unable to access them through the private sector.
