Arlington jockey suffers broken collarbone
A jockey fell from his horse and broke his collarbone during a race at Arlington Park Friday afternoon.
Junior Alvarado suffered the injuries during the fourth race around 4:30 p.m., Arlington Park officials said.
The horse, Monkey’s Moonbeam, was approaching the top of the stretch when it fell, throwing Alvarado to the track.
Alvarado was conscious and able to walk to the track ambulance under his own power, according to his agent, Jay Fedor.
Alvarado was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.
Going into Friday’s races, he was Arlington Park’s top rider with 19 wins.
