Submitted by Jane Feely

It was quite an achievement – and at the State finals, too.

All 19 participating members of the Level 5 girls' team from Ultimate Gymnastics scored over 9.00 on floor exercise. Many counted personal best scores among that number, but two girls in particular, both from Libertyville, came away with State titles in this particular event.

In the Youth B age group, Grace Miller scored 9.65 to claim her first place, and in the Junior B age group, Kylie Skie scored an outstanding 9.85 for her state champion title. Kylie also placed fourth in the all-around in her age group, while Grace was sixth.

Another stellar floor routine came from Jessica Pasquesi in the Junior D age group. Her score of 9.725 earned her a silver medal. Jessica, from Lake Forest, also added two bronze medals, one on bars, scoring 9.50, and the other in the all-around (37.375).

Other members of the team also came away with state medals. In the Child C age group, Gracie Gnatt placed second on vault, scoring 9.225. She also finished in fourth place on beam and in the all-around. In the Child D age group, Aaliyah Humphreys placed third on beam (9.425). Aaliyah had an excellent meet across the board, placing in the top 10 on all four events and finishing fifth in the all-around.

There also were bronze medals for Sarah Grabowski (Junior C) and Daniella Strauss (Youth E), both on balance beam.

Other girls who medaled in the all-around were Kristina Esdale (Senior C), whose 36.25 score earned her a sixth-place finish, and Olivia Roebuck (Child C), who finished 10th, scoring 36.175.
