Driver taken to hospital after I-355 crash
A Chevy Trailblazer veered across all lanes of traffic on southbound Interstate 355 and was struck by two cars during rush hour Friday.
The driver was traveling from the Maple Avenue ramp onto the highway around 5 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle. Witnesses said the driver may have suffered a medical emergency and possibly blacked out, according to Illinois State Police Sgt. Julio Serrano.
After being struck by two vehicles, the Chevy struck the median wall. The driver was conscious when medical personnel arrived and was transported to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with unknown injuries, Serrano said.
Two southbound lanes were shut down for an hour after the crash.
