Two men at-large after death of 15-month-old boy

Police continue to look for the man they believe backed over his 15-month-old nephew on a driveway in Aurora, killing him.

The man’s brother jumped in the car after the accident and is believed to be with the driver, Aurora police said.

The toddler, Jared Pichardo, was struck by a green 2002 Ford Explorer SUV in the driveway of a home on the 400 block of Hinman Street, police said.

The 21-year-old driver stopped and got out of the vehicle, then fled with his 24-year-old brother, heading west on Fourth Avenue. Both uncles also lived at the Hinman Street address, police said.

Police responded to the home at 4:45 p.m. and found the boy with massive injuries laying in the driveway.

Paramedics took him to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora where he was pronounced dead at 5:25 p.m.

Investigators say the tragedy appeared to be an accident.

Aurora police are seeking Rodolfo Pichardo, who they believe was the driver. The Ford Explorer has the license plate A457815. Anyone who sees the vehicle is asked to call 911 immediately.

Police ask those with additional information to call traffic investigators at (630) 256-5330.
