Bartlett fire injures 2
Two people were taken to an area hospital after a fire inside the laundry room of a Bartlett condominium building caused more than $100,000 in damage Sunday night, according to fire officials.
Officials said the fire started in, and was contained to, a laundry room of a multifamily building on the 600 block of Thorntree Court at around 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
One resident helped bring the flames under control with a fire extinguisher and was treated for smoke inhalation at St. Alexius Medical Center along with another resident, said Bartlett Fire District Batallion Chief Mike Clarke.
Everybody was out of the building when firefighters arrived, after being alerted by smoke detectors in the building.
Officials estimated the damage to the building at $100,000 and another $25,000 for contents lost in the fire.
Clarke said neither victim being treated for smoke inhalation was seriously injured.
