Cougars complete sweep

The Kane County Cougars erupted for 4 runs in the top of the ninth inning Monday night to stun the host Beloit Snappers 8-5 at Pohlman Field.

The Cougars earned their first series sweep of the season and have won 10 of their last 13 games. They also are 6-1 against Beloit.

Beloit led 5-3 in the top of the eighth when the Cougars came alive.

Cheslor Cuthbert smacked a solo homer off Matt Hauser to cut it to 5-4. Then in the ninth against Jose Gonzalez, the Cougars scored 4 runs.

They loaded the bases with two outs, and Ryan Jenkins drilled a 2-run single to center to make it 6-5. Cuthbert followed with a 2-run triple, the Cougars’ 12th hit.

Chas Byrne (1-1) was the beneficiary of the rally. He worked 3 innings of 1-hit, shutout ball for the victory.
