Students win ‘Why I Love Buffalo Grove’ contest
Buffalo Grove has announced the first winners of the “Why I Love Buffalo Grove” contest: Vaishnavi Sankar, Willow Grove School, kindergarten; Adina Shaikh, Pritchett School, 2nd grade; Jessica Topel, Pritchett School, 3rd grade; and Joseph & Jack Moskowitz, Woodlawn School, 8th grade. Each received a $100 U.S. Savings Bond and are invited to participate in the 2011 Buffalo Grove Days parade. The contest was spawned during the last Buffalo Grove Days, when student Rachel Becker approached Village President Elliott Hartstein on Bingo night and said, “President Hartstein. I have an idea. I love Buffalo Grove. Why don’t we have a contest so other young people in the community can share why they think Buffalo Grove is a great place to live?” The winners expressed their love for the village in a number of ways, including posters and DVDs. “The bottom line is we have a community we can be very, very proud of,” Hartstein said.
