Probation for forgery:

A Lake Zurich man was placed on probation for two years Monday when he admitted cashing a bad check at a Grayslake currency exchange. Thomas Atlee, 38, of the 23000 block of Cottage Road, was also fined $500 and ordered to make full restitution to the Grayslake Currency Exchange on Route 120. Assistant State’s Attorney Tim Niehus said Atlee cashed a check for $486 at the exchange on May 14 of last year that was drawn on a nonexistent bank account. Atlee was identified through security video at the exchange, Niehus said. Atlee could have been sentenced to up to five years in prison if he had been convicted after a trial.
