Libertyville hosts environmental movie series
The first in a series of environmental movies will be shown at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. June 3 at the Libertyville village hall, 118 West Cook Ave. “Green Fire” is about Aldo Leopold, a conservation legend who grew up in Iowa, graduated from Yale and later in life had a house he referred to as “the shack” on the Wisconsin River north of Madison. The documentary shares how Leopold’s land ethic and belief in caring about people and the land continues to inspire the environmental movement today. The series is sponsored by the Lake County Health Department and Illinois Lakes Management Association as part of MainStreet Libertyville’s First Friday events. Admission and popcorn are free. First Friday also is scheduled for July 1 and Aug. 5.
