Northern Illinois Food Bank gets help from Exelon
As part of National Volunteer Week, 20 employees from Exelon sorted and repackaged nearly 8,000 pounds of food Wednesday at the Northern Illinois Food Bank in St. Charles.
The food will be distributed to local pantries in the 13-county region the food bank serves.
The Exelon workers also donated nonperishable food items.
According to an Exelon spokesman, the company has donated more than $70,000 to NIFB since 2009. In 2010, NIFB named Exelon New Donor of the Year.
The food bank distributed more than 35 million pounds of food to local communities last year.
