Recall was always about Lisa Stone
(Trustee Jeffrey Berman) stated that a recall provides citizens with a greater voice and enhances democracy. It makes officials more accountable. You stated that when recall was enacted, you hoped that it would never be invoked.
When you introduced this recall, you had Lisa Stone in mind. Whose voice does this recall make greater than those who opposed Lisa Stone even before she got elected? How does this recall enhance democracy when those who voted for her and still support her are told your vote does not count?
She has not committed any crime her only vice was she chose to express her views as an elected official should do and the honored board, comprised of egos and self-importance, did not like and in the board's pompous attitude were not used to and could not accept.
Altered and deleted e-mails, missing minutes, lost keys without fear of reprimand. You and your band of cohorts will be able to obtain enough votes to oust Lisa Stone, perhaps, But you can never silence what you did.
This is nothing more than a slap at democracy. Have your consensus, have your decorum, have your order but I remind you that consensus, decorum and order is not how this country was established. Read your history. Differing views and the right to express them has been the foundation of this country's existence no matter who wishes to express them or when.
