Bikers for Books road rally Sunday

Warren-Newport Public Library District's Bikers for Books-Dick Welton Memorial Ride kicks off at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, to support educational technology programming for kids.

The road rally starts at Jesse Oaks Food and Drink, 18490 W. Old Gages Lake Road in Gages Lake, then travels west to the Volo Auto Museum, north to Kickstand Bar & Grill in Camp Lake, Wisconsin, east to the Welton Memorial in Gurnee, and back to Jesse Oaks. In all, the ride covers 66 miles and two hours of beautiful roads and scenery.

After the ride and poker run, there will be a festive after-party at Jesse Oaks with lunch, a cash bar, live music, 35 raffle baskets and a grand prize for riders that includes an overnight stay at Harrah's in Joliet.

Registration for the ride is $25 per vehicle in advance, $30 at the event. Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. Those who don't ride can attend the after-party at 1 p.m. for $10. Visit the library or wnpl.info for more information, route maps, sponsorship forms and to register online.
