Maggie Daley hospitalized again
Chicago first lady Maggie Daley is back in the hospital.
Mayor Richard Daley’s office announced Thursday she had been readmitted to Northwestern Memorial Hospital after experiencing flu-like symptoms.
She had just been released from the hospital on Tuesday after having surgery on her leg. Daley, who was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in 2002, had a titanium rod replaced.
Her doctor said the latest illness is not related to her cancer. Dr. Steven Rosen said in a statement that Daley came in after suffering nausea and dehydration. She was hospitalized for observation.
This latest illness comes as her husband’s time in office is ending. Mayor Daley didn’t seek a seventh term after 22 years on the job. Former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel becomes mayor on May 16.
