Man holds up Elgin restaurant employees

Elgin Police are turning to the public for information after an armed man held up two employees of a restaurant Friday night.

Authorities do not have a full description of the suspect who police said entered Paul’s Family Restaurant, 1300 Lawrence Ave., at around 11 p.m. and demanded money from the two employees.

The restaurant was closed at the time and the two victims were cleaning when the crime occurred, said Elgin Police spokeswoman Sue Olafson.

Police said the man was armed with a firearm when he threatened both employees. The man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police.

No one was injured during the heist, but neither employee was able to give police a full description of the man, Olafson said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call (847) 289-2600.
