Suspected cyberstalker charged in Naperville
A DuPage County judge on Friday set bail at $500,000 for a man accused of stalking a Naperville woman and harassing her with lewd e-mails.
Daniel R. Tamburich, 32, of Chicago, was being held in the county jail on felony charges of cyberstalking and harassment through electronic communication.
Prosecutors said the victim went to police in December after receiving multiple anonymous e-mails containing photos of a man’s genitalia and offers of sex.
A subsequent investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at Tamburich’s home on the 2600 block of Cullerton Street, where authorities said they found record of the e-mails and obtained a confession from the defendant.
Assistant State’s Attorney Kirsten King said the victim knew Tamburich from high school and had reported two years ago that he attempted to sexually assault her at a Chicago nightclub.
Tamburich told Judge Michael Wolfe he manages property in Winnetka and had an income of about $65,000 last year. He would have to post $50,000 to bond out while his case is pending.
The most serious charge against Tamburich is a Class 4 felony, typically punishable by up to three years in prison.
King said Tamburich was previously convicted of criminal trespass in a 2009 case that also included allegations of public indecency.
