Pitching matchups: The White Sox’ Phil Humber (1-0) vs. Jered Weaver (3-0) Friday at 7:10 p.m.; Gavin Floyd (1-0) vs. Tyler Chatwood (0-1) Saturday at 3:10 p.m.; Mark Buehrle (1-0) vs. Dan Haren (2-0) Sunday at 1:10 p.m.

At a glance: The White Sox really needed a day off Thursday after another bullpen-induced loss to Oakland the day before. Bouncing back is going to be difficult in the series opener with Weaver on the mound. Not only is he 3-0, the right-hander has a 0.87 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 20 innings. More bad news, Weaver is a career 4-2 (1.70 ERA) vs. the Sox. The White Sox were 7-2 against Los Angeles last year (4-2 at home). Sox starters are 4-0 with a 1.85 ERA on the first seven games of the homestand that wraps up against the Angels. Paul Konerko has a hit in 11 of the White Sox’ first 12 games.
