Libertyville D70 celebrates National Teacher Day May 3
Libertyville Elementary District 70 teachers will celebrate National Teacher Day on May 3, as the school district community promotes the teaching profession.
“There has been much written about teachers, their salaries, retirement, and tenure in the news lately,” said Sylvia Olson, president of the Libertyville Education Association and an early childhood teacher at Adler Park School. “The dedicated teachers of District 70 are fortunate to have, not only the support of the administration and the Board of Education, but this community as well. The community realizes the need for great teachers to help their students prepare for the world of the 21st century.
“Our teachers also realize the importance of supporting up and coming qualified educators. Therefore, in celebration of teacher appreciation, our members have donated $1 per member to the Illinois Education Association scholarship fund. Schools can only be as good as the people who devote their careers to them.”
District 70 Family Association members will be celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week from May 2-8. Some activities include a special luncheon for teachers, as well as treats and cards from students.
