Endorsement: Daily Herald backs Wyckoff over O'Connor for Lake County clerk

Lake County clerk: Wyckoff

In the race for Lake County clerk, incumbent Republican Carla Wyckoff faces a challenge from former Libertyville Township trustee and teacher Robin O'Connor.

Before being elected to the office four years ago, Wyckoff worked in the Lake County state's attorney's office and was the clerk's office lawyer for 15 years. She's very knowledgeable about the laws governing the office and its operation.

That's important and valuable experience at a time when there's growing concern about cyber threats to the country's election systems. O'Connor, a Democrat, has elected experience and leadership credentials but can't match Wyckoff's office knowledge. We endorse Wyckoff.
