Emanuel launches inauguration website
Chicago Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel's inaugural committee has launched a website with information about events leading up to the day Emanuel takes office.
Emanuel is to be sworn in as Chicago mayor on Monday, May 16. On Saturday, May 14 a city-wide day of service is scheduled followed by a free family-oriented concert in Grant Park. The website, chicagotogether.org, has details on all the events. Residents also can sign up for free tickets to the concert.
The committee says it chose the theme "Chicago Together" to address "the challenges we face with common purpose."
Emanuel was elected Chicago mayor in February. He replaces retiring Mayor Richard Daley, who held office for more than 20 years.
