Pastor told volunteers not to stay at NU after sex-toy demo

A Northwestern University professor's decision to allow a sex toy demonstration after one of his classes caused trouble for student volunteers.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports the pastor of a Baptist church in Hixson, Tenn., refused to allow 14 Northwestern students to camp on church property last month while they were in town to help build a nature trail.

The Rev. Clifton Roth gave the students permission to camp on Community Baptist Church property during spring break but withdrew it after seeing an article about the demonstration. Roth told the Sun-Times he decided to keep the students at arm's length because their presence could besmirch the church.

Jenny Haag made the arrangements with Roth and says she was stunned by his turnaround. She says the students found other accommodations.
