Highland students named semi-finalists in writing contest

Two Highland Middle School students from Libertyville are listed as semi-finalists for an Illinois State Library writing contest called “Letters for Literature.”

Of the 6,643 participants, seventh-graders Julia Wilson and Nick Silvis had their work reviewed by three rounds of judges, making it to the semi-finals at the state level, said Libertyville Elementary District 70 language arts and literature gifted teacher Ann Livermore.

“This is the second year we have participated,” said Livermore. “I am delighted we had two that placed.”
