Hanover Park police warn of theft scam

The Hanover Park Police Department has issued a warning of an ongoing theft by deception scam.

Residents have reported being approached by two subjects requesting a ride to various locations for emergency assistance reasons, such as having a broken-down car or a medical emergency. Once the driver agrees to provide a ride, the subjects frequently change the destination and pressure the driver to make a withdrawal from a bank or ATM.

Police said the subjects are described as a black male, about 5-foot-9 and 140 pounds, and a black female, 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds. Both are about 40 years old. Residents should call 911 if they encounter these subjects, police said.
