Music, lightning show at SciTech
On Saturday, March 20, the SciTech Hands-on Museum, 18 W. Benton St. in Aurora, will have a special treat for adults and kids as well: "The SciTech Night at the Museum." The program features Nobel laureate Leon Lederman and an electrifying show with gigantic, music-producing lightning bolts traveling 15 feet through the air, presented by the Masters of Lightning.
Refreshments, raffle tickets, silent auction, video games and more than 200 hands-on activities and displays will entertain the entire family.
Doors open at 6 p.m., and the program starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for kids, age 12 and younger, free for kids 3 and under. For information and to reserve your tickets, call Penny Runyon at (630) 859-3434, ext. 218. For information, visit scitechmuseum.org.
Leon Lederman shared the 1988 Nobel Prize in physics for the discovery of the muon neutrino. He received his Ph.D. from Columbia University and served as the director of Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia from 1979-89. Signed copies of his book "The God Particle" will be available during the silent auction at the "SciTech Night at the Museum."
The Masters of Lightning are Steve Ward, Jeff Larsen and Terry Blake. They use large Tesla coils to produce lightning bolts that can travel up to 20 feet through the air and produce music. In their shows, Blake plays the role of Dr. Zeus. He wears a high-voltage metal suit and interacts with the lightning bolts. For information on the Masters of Lightning, visit mastersoflightning.com.
