Naperville man faces child porn charges
A Naperville man is accused of downloading child pornography, according to a DuPage County grand jury indictment announced Wednesday.
Michael J. Treis, 41, of the 5S000 block of Pebblewood Lane, was indicted Tuesday on three counts of aggravated child pornography. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison, prosecutors said.
Treis came under investigation by the Naperville Police Department’s Internet crimes unit last spring after investigators pinpointed a computer at his residence downloading child pornography through an online file-sharing service, Sgt. Gregg Bell said.
The investigation culminated in February with police seizing two computers during the execution of a search warrant at Treis’ home. Authorities later identified several images of child pornography, including toddlers and girls younger than 13, on at least one of the computers, according to court records.
Police said several people lived with Treis in Naperville, but only Treis was charged. He since has listed his street address as the 25000 block of Valley Road in Lombard, court records show.
Treis was arrested on preliminary charges in March and released after posting a $10,000 cash bond. His arraignment is scheduled for April 28 in front of Judge George Bakalis.
