‘Welcome home’ planned for Barrington vet
Friends of Chief Warrant Officer Bruce Johnson are asking Barrington area residents to turn out Friday to welcome the Marine Corps veteran home after a year’s deployment in Afghanistan. Be at the Wool Street Sports Bar & Grill, 128 Wool St., Barrington at 4:45 p.m. Johnson is expected to arrive between 5-5:15 p.m. and organizers would like the streets lined with people, waving signs, flags and blowing noisemakers. Johnson is being escorted from O’Hare by the Warriors Watch motorcycles, who will meet with the Barrington police and fire departments, with sirens blasting. After the parade, join Johnson, his wife, DeDe, and their children inside Wool Street for a drink and a more personal chance to thank him for his service.
