Alvarez will seek 2nd term

Cook County state's attorney Anita Alvarez says she'll run for another term as top prosecutor.

Alvarez said Friday morning on WLS-AM radio that there's still a lot to do. She says her office is "excited about some new laws that we've been working on." Alvarez was first elected to the job in 2008.

Alvarez's office has nearly 860 attorneys and 1.560 employees. It's one of the largest state's attorneys' offices in the country. It's annual budget is about $123 million annually.
