Wild weather focus of Skilling's free Batavia seminar

Weather buffs are invited to touch down this weekend at the 31st annual tornado and severe weather seminar in Batavia.

Saturday's event is at Fermilab National Accelerator Lab and it's co-sponsored by WGN-TV.

WGN meteorologist Tom Skilling will present a video of a year in wild weather at the free event. There are two sessions, at noon and 6 p.m. Seating is on a first-come-first-served basis.

Skilling says so far the 2011 tornado season has been incredibly active and will be among the topics discussed. February's blizzard and Japan's tsunami also are on the agenda.

Other speakers include Louis Uccellini of the National Centers for Environmental Prediction and Illinois state climatologist Jim Angel.
