GOP forgot about curtailing spending

It’s next to impossible to pick up any newspaper in the country and not read a letter from some irate U.S. citizen complaining about taxes being too high and the government needing to cut spending on unnecessary items.

The Republicans were all over that idea, which helped send more of them to the U.S. House in the last election.

Well, now we get down to the actions speak louder than words part of the equation. In the latest resolution to keep the government running, what was an example of spending that the Republicans considered essential to

the country? Yep, $53 billion to the oil industry. This wasn’t $53 billion in reduced taxes, this was $53 billion of taxpayers money that the Republicans gave to the oil companies, which are some of the most profitable companies in the world.

Had this been $53 billion in tax stimulus money the Republicans would have been screaming at the top of their lungs about how the government is socialistic.

Anyone had a chance to check gasoline prices lately?
