New planning, zoning commission holds first meeting May 4
Final Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting Scheduled for April 12
The City of Naperville's new Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC) is scheduled to hold its first meeting on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers of the Naperville Municipal Center, located at 400 S. Eagle St. The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) will hold its final meeting on April 12, 2011. Following this date, variances will be considered by the PZC which meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month.
The new PZC will merge the functions of the city's Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals. The commission will maintain responsibility for consideration of land use issues and take on additional duties related to consideration of zoning and sign variance requests.
By combining the two commissions into one, residents and business owners will benefit from process efficiencies, including the opportunity to have their case considered at a faster pace since the PZC will meet twice per month, versus the ZBA's monthly meetings. This change could potentially save the applicant two weeks in processing time.
All zoning applications submitted after March 15, 2011 will be forwarded to the PZC for consideration on May 4.
