Mature newcomers for Gail Borden

Lately we have all witnessed stagnation of government due to infighting on both the national and state levels. It’s evident that this constant bickering does not lead to productive leadership in government; the end result is continued waste in taxpayer money.

Let’s face it, not many of us have that extra capital to use on what amounts to a group of children fighting on the playground.

I have learned government on the local level is no exception: maturity has left the building. Case in point, in Elgin our group of toddlers is known as the Gail Borden Library board of trustees. I was told this group actually spent more than $12,000 of our tax money to prevent one trustee from getting information he needed to carry out his job. Carry this over to the private sector and it screams bankruptcy.

I was further informed that in a few cases the board has even paid security guards to escort a trustee to and from board meetings. Last time I looked, this was not Madison, Wis. complete with its gang of professional agitators.

I always thought such things like your local library and school boards were just average folks wanting to contribute to their community. I guess no matter how old you are you learn something every day.

That’s why I plan to vote for some mature newcomers to the library board. Victor LaPorte, Rick Wallet and Penny Wegman. I suggest everyone consider these three candidates for a more productive and efficient library board. These are three candidates no one needs to “whisper” about.
