36 teens cited at Antioch party
Thirty-six teens were ticketed for underage drinking at a party in Antioch over the weekend at a house police said is “frequented” by members of a street gang.
Eight Antioch officers and four Lake County sheriff deputies responded to what was called in as a noise complaint around 11 p.m. Friday. Officers found about 40 vehicles parked outside the residence on the 1700 block of Neuway Lane and found about 70 people inside.
The owner of the home, Felita Rankins, 42, was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor charge of permitting her residence to be used for the consumption of alcohol by underage teens.
The 36 teens arrested, ranging from age 14 to 19, were ticketed and released to their parents.
“The potential impact on the community as the result of such gathering is enormous,” said Antioch Police Chief Craig Somerville.
Bernard Campos, a 19-year-old Round Lake Beach man, was also charged with threatening a public official, a felony offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
