New iPhone app helps users tap Ind. state parks

INDIANAPOLIS — Looking for a prime fishing spot at an Indiana state park? Look no further than your iPhone.

A new iPhone application from the Department of Natural Sources provides information Hoosiers may need while planning outdoor activities at any of the agency's properties, including forests, fish and wildlife areas, nature preserves, state park inns, state parks and reservoirs.

The application includes mapping for state parks and where to hunt or fish, fees and regulations, links to camping reservation sites, even the distance to parks from the user's current location.

The application can be downloaded free at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/indiana-dnr/id395591679?mt=8.

The DNR also is developing applications for Blackberry and Android phones.
