Two arrested in Hanover Park taxi robbery

Hanover Park police charged two people Sunday with felony robbery charges stemming from the holdup of a taxi driver a day earlier.

Police said Christopher Boyd, 18, of the 4500 block of Whitney Drive, Hanover Park, and a juvenile were charged with one count of robbery of a taxi driver.

Police said Boyd and the juvenile took a taxi from Elgin to the area near Sandpiper Drive and East Harbor Park in Hanover Park about 12:20 p.m. Saturday. Once there, one of the offenders held a sharp object to the neck of the taxi driver and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen, police said.

Boyd and the juvenile fled the scene on foot. The taxi driver, who was not injured, called police.

Investigators identified Boyd and the juvenile as suspects, and both were located.

Boyd was transported to the DuPage County Jail and will appear in bond court March 14. The juvenile was detained and transported to the DuPage County Youth Home.
