Fundraiser Saturday for Carpentersville girl

Four charitable groups are joining forces Saturday to throw a Carpentersville girl a special 6th birthday party, and at the same time raise funds to help research and raise awareness of her rare disease.

Bridget's Birthday Celebration begins at noon at Kohl Children's Museum, 2100 Patriot Boulevard in Glenview. The event, which costs $15 per adult and $8 per child, includes admission to the museum, crafts, live music and buffet lunch.

The guest of honor, Bridget Kennicott, suffers from Late Infantile Neuronal Ceriod Lipofuscinosis, commonly known as Batten Disease, a fatal neurodegenerative disorder.

The event is being hosted by the Hope 4 Bridget Foundation, Batten's Disease Support and Research Association, The Children's Rare Disease Network and Lybba.
