Oregon couple's dog goes missing after Ill. crash
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — An Oregon couple whose dog went missing this week when their truck crashed during a storm in central Illinois is hoping to be reunited with the pooch before they go home.
Commercial truck drivers Roberta Pense and her husband Armand Poulin were traveling on Interstate 74 Tuesday when strong winds knocked their vehicle over.
Pense says the crash knocked the side mirrors through her window and took out the windshield.
She has bruises and stitches near her eye. Her husband has five broken ribs and a punctured lung.
None of the passersby who came to their aid saw what happened to their 1-year-old lhasa apso named Opie.
Pense tells the (Champaign) News-Gazette that Opie is black with a white chest and stomach and "looks like a little skunk."
