Naperville dance ensemble to perform March 19
The community is invited to enjoy an evening of dance performance by the Naperville Park District's Concert Dance Ensemble at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19 at Naperville North High School Auditorium, 899 N. Mill St.
The Concert Dance Ensemble just learned that they have been awarded a Dance Program Grant in the amount of $1,500 from the Illinois Arts Council for 2011. The Illinois Arts Council grant provides operating support for the Ensemble's public performances, dance training, and collaboration with Illinois artists.
“We are thrilled to know that the Concert Dance Ensemble has received a grant again this year,” said Artistic Director Melissa Sallée. “The Illinois Arts Council grant enables us to provide high quality dance experiences for young, aspiring dancers at a reasonable cost, and to offer excellent, affordable dance entertainment for audiences of all ages.”
The Concert Dance Ensemble is celebrating their 15th anniversary in 2011. Now 51 members strong, the ensemble consists of three separate companies: Junior, Apprentice, and Senior.
This year's Showcase will feature original choreography by ensemble students as part of the mentoring program for emerging artists. The new pieces are “Precious Things” by Katie Munro and Michelle Senger and “Contagious” by Evanthia Vranas and Lindsey Gapen.
Tickets are available at the Naperville Park District and may be purchased online at www.napervilleparks.org or at 320 W. Jackson Ave. Tickets are $6 through March 17 and $8 after March 17 or at the door.
