Lake Zurich keeshond wins breed at Westminster

The Lake Zurich keeshond competing in the Westminster Kennel Club's 2010 dog show won Best of Breed today, giving it the chance to compete tonight for Best in Group and a shot at Best in Show on Tuesday night.

Parker, owned by Terry and Diane Benz, beat out the rest of the keeshond field to win his breed during the nontelevised portion of the competition on Monday.

Tonight, Parker (official name: Ch Daimlers Caviar Dreams) will try to charm the judges once again, as he competes with the 17 other winners of the Non-Sporting breeds for the chance to be the Non-Sporting top dog.

The Non-Sporting group is one of seven groups - the others are Toy, Hound, Herding, Sporting, Working and Terrier. Once each group proclaims its winners, those 7 dogs will compete for Best in Show on Tuesday night.

Tonight's Best in Group competition is being televised from 7-8 p.m. on the USA Network; and 8-10 p.m. on CNBC.
