Kindhearted neighbors
A few weeks before Halloween, our black cat went missing. Bruiser Bear is 9 years old and vision impaired.
We feared the worst but immediately created “lost” fliers and went door to door asking neighbors to keep an eye out for him. Their heartfelt response was overwhelming.
We spotted a little girl, flyer in hand, walk her dog around several blocks looking for our cat. An older gentleman called one morning to say he saw a black cat and offered a ride to that location. He generously offered his time and support as we searched together. A cat lover stopped by our house on bicycle, just to check in for any news. Knowing that our community cared helped ease the fear and worry we experienced in our search for Bruiser Bear.
Five days after he disappeared, a woman called to say her 11-year-old daughter, Megan, found a black cat in their pole barn and they believed he was ours. Bruiser Bear was dirty and dehydrated, but otherwise in good shape.
Thank you, Megan, and to all of our neighbors, for your concern and kindness. We have a new appreciation for our community.
