Hat ads can help get word out about local businesses

On Monday, April 12 at 6:45 p.m., Elgin Junior Service Board will be walking their "hat ads" from The Centre of Elgin to Gail Borden Public Library with the assistance of local community men, the Chicago Slaughter Dance Team and Bearon, the Schaumburg Flyers mascot.

At 7 p.m., stop by the Gail Borden library, 270 N. Grove Ave., to see a "hat ad" fashion show, enter your ballot for your "favorite hat ad" and be entered into a random prize drawing for Chicago Slaughter or Schaumburg Flyer tickets.

A hat ad is a traditional form of advertising created by the Elgin Junior Service Board to advertise local businesses.

The Elgin Junior Service Board's 28th production of Follies 2010 "Sports!" will premiere at 8 p.m. Friday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24, at the Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way, Elgin.

Tickets are available by calling (847) 931-5900 or at hemmens.org.
