Enough of union intimidation tactics
As reported by the Daily Herald, “More than 450 supporters of the Naperville police officers ended their informational picket just before 7 p.m. Monday and filled the city's council chambers with an energy not seen for quite some time.”
Informational picket? Really? Is that what's the unions are calling it now? It's nothing more than unions flexing their muscle. Some hardworking, overstressed, overtaxed Naperville taxpayers might see it as informational intimidation.
I've lived in this town for 19 years now, and I am fed up with the militant tactics of our teachers union and police union. These public sector employees have a warped sense of entitlement. For some bizarre reason, the unions think they are immune from these present dire economic times. Unemployment rates remain at record levels, salary increases have been minimal, and our property taxes keep increasing.
It's time for 450 taxpayers to show up at the city council to “inform” them of who pays the bills, who have been getting laid off, who are working 50-60 hour weeks to make ends meet, and who have zero tolerance for the intimidation tactics of out-of-touch public sector unions.
